--- Happy two year anniversary of the Red Sox winning the World Series on Friday, October 27th!

--- Don't you hate it when you buy a drink from a vending machine, and something you're not expecting comes out? The little sign says "Sunkist Orange" and you get "Fanta"? Drives me nuts.

--- Another thing that drives me nuts: how they package movies these days. The sticky plastic that you have to peel back along the sides of a new movie is nearly impossible to get off these days, and you end up gouging into the plastic of the movie itself, already tarnishing a brand new item. Obviously it's not a lot of damage, nor is it important in the grand scheme of movie watching, but it's the principle of keeping the box nice and new.

--- Do you know what my favorite holiday of the year is? No? We're officially less than a month away from... Thanksgiving!

--- Speaking of holidays, I find Halloween to be one of the most overrated holidays of the year. It has become completely pointless in nature because it has evolved into a commercial holiday, so to speak, that has lost in every sense its original meaning. Once it had something to do with feasting and celebration because it was the one day of the year that the dead could come back to the land of the living and party it up, I guess. The point being that this was a good thing. Now all we have is ghouls and goblins and other things that are meant only for fright, and lord knows where the candy thing came from. To clarify, I don't dispute that there are real origins for dressing up, for pumpkin carving, even for apple bobbing, but we've completely forgotten the origins and twisted them into something else. Obviously I'm not an expert on this, but it's right up the alley of the Easter bunny and Santa Claus, and other such things that divert our attention away from the real meaning of the holiday (seriously, where did the easter bunny come from? And why does it have eggs? What IDIOT came up with this stuff?). I think the thing that annoys me most is that few people think about this kind of thing, they just all go along like robots - chocolate easter eggs, check, fireworks for 4th of july, check, dress kids up for halloween, check, big turkey for thanksgiving, check, milk and cookies for santa, check... lather, rinse and repeat. Again, and again. I'm getting myself worked up right now. YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS! Well, not you, reading this, specifically.

--- Because it is the time of the year when holidays are coming up on us rapid-fire, it's my least favorite commercial habit: shoving another holiday down our throats before the earlier holiday even rolls around. I rant about this every single year without fail, so I might as well this year too. You might not have realized it at the time, but I saw Halloween stuff come out the last week of August. I'm not kidding, store that in the memory banks for next year and see for yourself. The one I dislike the most is the point at which all of the christmas stuff starts bombarding our senses before Thanksgiving comes around. It doesn't even stand a chance. It's my favorite holiday and it is completely disrespected by christmas every year. Just hold your horses, xmas, ok?

--- Chrissy used to tell me that I am extremely cynical. I like to think I'm a lot less cynical than I sound at times, especially since the only thing I really had to do in the courtesy booth at the store was bitch about how IDIOTIC all of the customers were... it was fun, it passed the time, and it was true... but sometimes I think she's right. This post doesn't really do a lot for my side of the argument, if you know what I mean.

--- I'll leave you with at least one more positive post. I was very pleased to see that New Jersey has awarded gay couples the same rights as heterosexual couples. Personally, I'm proud to be from the only state in the country to legalize gay marriage so far. New Jersey hasn't gone quite that far yet, but it's nice to see some progress somewhere else. As for the rest of the country... well... YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS! Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

For the Record...

... I am officially a Detroit Tigers fan for the remainder of the MLB playoffs. If you don't know why you either don't know me very well or live under a rock.

... I can't stand those OnStar radio commercials.

... I hope ARod gets traded to the Kansas City Royals. That would be funny seeing him languish on a last place team again, though he'd probably hit 80 HR's with 200 RBI.

... I wonder why Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept 15 - Oct 15. It isn't really a month, but a month long. This bugs me for some reason.

... I am moving when my lease is up in March. I don't know where, but Nyack is appealing.

... I don't know anything about the NHL other than who is on the Bruins and how they are doing, and this disappoints me.

... On the other hand, I've begun to find sports to be rather unfulfilling and pointless, but still I can't tear myself away.

... That being said, I need a sport to PLAY, not just to watch... definitely looking for a softball league or something next year.

... My computer has sucked ever since I started using again after nearly a year and a half layoff, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go Office Space on it someday.

... I have no idea how people get rich. Seriously. No idea. I missed that boat completely. Or fell in love with scientific research. One or the other.

... I wish I had more time to read.

... I suppose I would have more time to read if I didn't spend it making posts like this for five people.
